Sankei’s Paranoia

I was bit surprised. One of Japanese leading newspapers Sankei called a demonstration protesting Abe’s “war law” as a Nazi-alike activity.

It is cognitive dissonance. Sankei and its supporters believe they are doing right things. However, they are frustrated because young people don’t follow Sankei. They internally explained that was because young people ignorant and immature. But the anti-government movement showed they are not ignorant but willing to change the situation. So they have changed their explanation. The young people are protesting because the young people are brainwashed by a evil party like Nazi.

Ironically, the movement is ignored by Japanese voters. About 50% of voters still supporting Abe because it is still better than DPJ’s traumatic three years. Japanese voters are afraid of changes. Only right wings feel the movement is a threat and can’t help calling the movement a Nazi like activity.

Recently Sanae Takaichi a minister of Internal Affairs and Communications told the government could suspend a broadcasting station if the government judged programs were unfair. It must be a shocking comment for westerners but Japanese voters didn’t react much nor called it a Nazi alike attitude.

Japanese have enjoyed full spec democracy for 70 years but it seems that the US failed to “install” democracy to Japan.
